Back in the 1960s and 70s, with carefree vibes coursing through the air, so-called “hippies”, travelled overland from Europe to Turkey and through to Nepal and India on a route called ‘The Overland’. They were pioneers in terms of counterculture adventure tourism (which led directly to the birth of the Lonely Planet Guide), travelling lightly and cheaply, via buses, trains and hitching lifts, getting away from the clutches of capitalism and chasing the mystique of these far flung lands. A desirable quality for people seeking enlightenment at the same time as a good time. It is these ideals that are the spirit behind The Overland where we seek to connect with life enriching experiences, good times and low impact travel.
The Overland began life in cycling, gravel riding and bikepacking, a side project of Morvélo Bicycle Apparel who had spent the last 10 years creating much loved, eye catching and award winning traditional cycle clothing. A small, bootstrapped and independent company of six, Morvélo have always liked to do things their own way, and were inspired by the informal and laid back nature of the new gravel riding wave.
Overland was where they took all their years of technical sportswear expertise and combined it with outdoors and high street fashion to create products that work for adventure sports as much as they do around the city. We are for all adventurers, whether that be on two wheels, on a board or in the urban environement. You can wear Overland for it all.
