Trade-in FAQs

We should all keep our clothing for as long a possible but sometimes things change. Our body shape, our needs or, as we are all fallible consumers, just because we are bored with the same products. This is why we have launched our trade-in scheme, letting you send back your old Overland clothing for a discount off a future purchase.


Why aren't all my products eligible for trade-in?

We accept most items for trade-in however, there may be certain items that at this time are not eligible. We're open about it being a brand new program for us, and indeed the industry, so we'll be evolving it continually and the more uses we find for the products traded in, the more products we can take back.


How much will I receive for my items?

The amount of credit we offer for each item is clearly shown on the trade in pages. Once you have confirmed your trade-in, that value won’t change.

As a guide we will offer a discount code of the following values:

  • 50% - 35% for the first 6 months since purchase
  • 35% - 25% for 6 - 12 months since purchase
  • 25% - 5% for 12-14 months since purchase


How long will it take until I receive my credit?

We aim to process all trade-ins within 7 days of receiving them.


What about postage costs?

Postage to return the products is a flat fee of £5 of which The Overland will cover half the cost.


What do you do with the product?

The returned clothing will not go to waste. We'll wash them, repair if necessary and resell if possible. If not we will use the fabrics and trim to create upcycled Overland products and only as a very last resort, have them recycled.


Can't I get more money if I sold this myself?

Quite possibly but the Overland Trade-In scheme is there to take our the hassle of resale.


Can I send you back other items I have bought elsewhere?

At this moment in time, no, unless it is an Overland product. However once we have evolved the trade-in scheme and the methods of washing, fixing and reselling then we hope to open this up to other brands and products too.
